... the big news story in this week's newspaper is about the police station's sprinkler being "brazenly" stolen.I can't help but laugh. I think that this is the funniest thing I've read in ages! If the local police can't even keep their own property safe, what are the rest of us to do? I better watch out for my garden gnomes. They may be next!
I guess I am lucky to live in a place where this is one of the big news stories.

My Sis told me about a couple in our hometown who had their garden gnome stolen, furious they wrote a really nasty note in the "roses and thorns" classified section of the town's newspaper. A week later there gnome showed up on their lawn with picture of it being on vacation in an envelope beside it. each year the gnome mysteriously disappears and reappears a week or so later with funny vacation pictures.

Duskydawn, how lucky were your neighbours to get their gnomes back! What were the chances of the gnome thief reading the newspaper and seeing your neighbour's advertisement? Wow!
James, oh yes, my town only has about 5000 people living in it. Could be worse though, I guess.
